Vest, Betty Akers

Betty Akers Vest, 68, of Pilot, Va., passed away March 7, 2009.

She is survived by her husband, Nelson E. Vest Sr., of Pilot; one son, Nelson E. Jr., and Diane Vest, of Riner; four daughters, Charlotte and Steve Wickline, of Radford, Nancy and “Tony” Scaggs, Judy Vest and Janet Vest, all of Christiansburg; eight grandchildren; five greatgrandchildren; seven brothers, Roy Akers Jr., of Riner, Denton and Diane Akers, of Salem, Steve and Shelby Akers, of Dublin, James Henry and Dallas Akers, of Christiansburg, Noah Akers, of Floyd, Wayne and Faye Akers, of Pulaski, George and Jennet Akers, of Radford; four sisters, Alice and Sherman Altizer, Katie and Nualan Sutphin, Phyliss Akers, all of Christiansburg, Brenda and Larry Hale, of Floyd.

Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2009, at the Lighthouse Family Ministry of Riner with the Rev. Buford Linkous, Pastor Clyde Bishop and Pastor Richard Bishop officiating with interment in the Surface Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 9, 2009, at the Lighthouse Family Ministry.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Church Building Fund, L.H.F.M., 301 Merrimac Rd., Blacksburg, Va. 24060.
