Sue Weaver Vernon, of Riner, Va., passed away on Wednesday, March 17, 2010, at Skyline Manor Nursing Home in Floyd. Mrs. Vernon was preceded in death by her parents ;and four brothers. She is survived by one brother, W. Scott Weaver and wife, Ruth, of Christiansburg; five nieces and three nephews, Fed. Judge Cindy Weaver, of Florence, Ala., Dr. W. Scott Weaver and wife, Ann, of Roanoke, Virginia Rippe and husband, Jim, of Manassas, Peggy Sisson and husband, Mort, and Andy Weaver and wife, Becky, all of Hopewell, James and Vicky Weaver, of Fairfax; and Mary Weaver, of Clintwood, Va.; and sisters-in-law, Mrs. John Weaver, of Chester, Va., and Mrs. James Weaver, of Fairfax. Mrs. Vernon was an active member of Auburn United Methodist Church until her recent illness. She was treasurer of the church, and of the Auburn Charge for several years, also past president of the United Methodist Women. A member and past Worthy Matron of McDaniel Chapter O.E.S, and past member of Hamilton D. Wade Chapter V.D.C. Mrs. Vernon retired from the Montgomery County Treasurer’s Office with well over 30 years of service. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 27, 2010, in the Horne Funeral Chapel with Dr. Carl Collins and Mr. George Guilliams officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery.
