Venable, Josephine Akers

Josephine Akers (Jo Dot) Venable, 74, of 1222 Newbern Road, Pulaski, Va., died on Monday, December 22, 2008, in the Pulaski Community Hospital. She was born in Pulaski on May 31, 1934, and was the daughter of the late Efford W. Akers and Opal Akers. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Wilburn Eugene Venable.

She was a retired assistant director of nursing at Pulaski Community Hospital with 34 years of service.

Surviving are her son, Joey Venable, of Pulaski; grandchildren and spouses, Eric and Penny Venable, of South Carolina, Sean and Danette Venable, of South Carolina, and Danielle Venable, of Dublin; great-grandchildren, Christian Venable, Calfee Venable, Carson Venable, Emily Venable, and Aaron Venable; sister and brother-in-law, Thelma and Arnold Anderson, of Pulaski; three cats, Al-E, Clydette and Will; and all of her nursing associates.

Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 27, 2008, from Stevens Funeral Chapel with Pastor David Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Pulaski. Visiting will be Saturday from the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the service hour. Arrangements by Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski, Va.
