Vecellio, Vanda Justina
Vanda Justina Vecellio, 89, of Christiansburg, Va., and formerly of Keystone, W.Va., died Saturday night, June 14, 2008, at the Continuous Care Adult Care, Christiansburg, Va., after a long illness.
Born April 12, 1919, in Keystone, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Angelo Vecellio and Elisa Pais Vecellio. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Powhatan, W.Va., for many years and attended the Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Christiansburg, Va. She was a retired School Teacher from the McDowell County School System with 40 plus years of service and having taught last at Northfork High School. She had been a resident of Christiansburg for the past eight years.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Bertha Sutherland; and two brothers, Clio Vecellio and his wife, Hazel, and Iro A. Vecellio.
She is survived by her brother-in-law, Kerry Palto Sutherland, of Christiansburg, Va.; two nieces, Elissa Mosby and husband, Jimmy, of Charleston, W.Va., and Nancy Monegeau and husband, Richard, of Long Beach, Calif.; four nephews, Michael Vecellio and wife, Patti, of Houston, Texas, Victor Vecellio and wife, Susan, of Colorado Springs, Colo., Kerry Patrick Sutherland, of Greenville, S.C., and Michael Sutherland, of Christiansburg, Va.; and several great-nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 20, 2008, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Powhatan, W.Va., with the Rev. That Son Nguyen as celebrant. Entombment will follow at the Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum (Old Mausoleum-Waterfall Chapel) Bluewell, W.Va.
Friends may call Thursday night, June 19, 2008, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Widener Funeral Home, Northfork, where a Christian Wake Service will be held at 7 p.m. with Sister Libby Deliee RSM officiating.
