William Garfield Vaught Sr (Joby) passed away on Monday, September 7, 2020 at Heritage Hall in Blacksburg, Virginia after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Joby was born in Pearisburg, Virginia on January 27, 1945 to the late Othneil F Vaught and Christine Inez Mills Vaught. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Brenda Gail Vaught.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife Jane Ellen Vaught. Also left to cherish his memory are his sons, Joey (Carmen Sommer), William (Ann), and Michael (Lisa); grandchildren, Sarah (Ben) Skeen, Eric Vaught (Courtney Corriere), Justin (Amy) Vaught, Cody (Amber) Vaught, and Lindsey Vaught; a great-granddaughter Lillian Skeen; stepsons, James Bryant Jr (Jene) and John “Robbie” Bryant, along with eight step-grandchildren; brother, Reggie (Rene) Vaught; sisters, Aldene Vest, Brenda Lively, and Linda (Dale) Moye; and his little buddy Jack.

The family would like to thank Dr. Harry McCoy and his staff for the kind and compassionate care of Joby for the last 10 years.

Papaw Joby will be remembered with a twinkle in his eye and an infectious laugh as he danced to the tune of “Mustang Sally”.
