amem_lake-pier.jpgMinor Allen Vaught, 92, of Longshop, Va., died on Sunday, October 4, 2009, at Montgomery Regional Hospital. He was born in Longshop, Va., on April 22, 1917, to the late Elzie Eaton and Amanda Graves Vaught and was also preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Winters; two sisters, and six brothers.

He worked in the coal mines for 26 years along with farming and retired from the Town of Blacksburg.

He is survived by his wife, Lucille Vaught, of Longshop; daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy Shealor, of Longshop, Brenda and Jim Boffey, of Durham, N.C., and Phyllis and Howard Keister, of Longshop; sons and daughters-in-law, Edison and Linda Vaught, of Draper, Va., Jeff and Diana Vaught, of Longshop, and Richard and Pamela Vaught, of Longshop; 10 grandchildren; 12 greatgrandchildren; and two greatgreat-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 7, 2009, in the McCoy Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jimmie Lee Price and the Rev. George Jarels officiating. Interment will follow in the Harless Cemetery, Longshop.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Coal Miner Heritage Association, c/o Trudy Albert, 4891 Whitethorne Road, Blacksburg, Va. 24060 or a charity of your choice. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday evening, October 6, 2009, at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, SW, Blacksburg, Va.
