Vaught, Marcus Lee

Marcus Lee Vaught, 20, of Christiansburg, Va., died in an accident on Wednesday, April 14, 2010. He was born on May 24, 1989, to Kenneth Lee Vaught and Joan Ann Gordon Vaught. He was a 2007 graduate of Christiansburg High School. He was employed by his stepfather at David Thompson Hauling and Excavation. Marcus was preceded in death by two sets of grandparents, Cecil and Edna Vaught, of Narrows, and Shirley Gordon, of Christiansburg. Marcus was a beloved son, brother, uncle and a friend to all who knew him. Left to cherish his memory are his father, Kenneth Lee Vaught, of Narrows, Va.; his mother, Joan Ann Gordon Vaught and stepfather, David McKay Thompson, of Christiansburg, Va.; his sister, Tabitha Ann Brown and fiancé, Lucas Board, of Christiansburg, Va.; his brother, who thought the world of his big brother, Kevin Thompson, of Christiansburg, Va.; and nephew, who thought Marcus was larger than life, Ethan Tyler Board, of Christiansburg, Va. Marcus had very special uncles, Cecil Vaught Jr., of Narrows, Va., and Bobby and Angie Vaught, of Narrows, Va.; and his aunt, Connie Vaught and her husband, Roger Linkous. His Aunt Connie is a one of a kind person who Marcus cherished. Uncle Fred and Kalyn Gordon, of Blacksburg, Va., loved Marcus like no other. Marcus had a very special cousin, Brandon Vaught, of Narrows, Va. Marcus and Brandon grew up together and were more like brothers than cousins. He also had three special cousins, Brittany Vaught, of Narrows, Va., and Ashley and Savanna Gordon, of Blacksburg, Va., who Marcus enjoyed picking on when they were around each other. Marcus also had a very special aunt, Tammy Vaught, of Narrows, Va., who treated him as one of her own. Marcus leaves behind two very special friends, Heath Thomas and Wesley Bond. He had many friends who he loved and cherished that will miss him. He will live in our hearts forever. The family will receive friends from 4 until 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 17, 2010, at Horne Funeral Home. A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, April 17, 2010, at 6 p.m. with Pastor Ray Kingrea officiating.
