Vangunten, Laura Larsson

Laura Larsson Vangunten, 46, of Floyd, Va., passed away on Thursday, November 29, 2007. Laura battled cancer bravely and with dignity for several years.

She was born on September 4, 1961 in Teaneck, N.J. She was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Larsson. She is survived by her husband, Tom; sons, Henry and Bobby; mother, Mary Larsson of Denville, N.J.; brothers, Michael Larsson of Atlanta and Gregory Larsson of Denville; mother in-law, Jackie Vangunten of Floyd; and special friends, Connie Ratner, Alice Hardin and Joni Quesenberry of Floyd.

Special thanks to Sherry Reed and the Carilion Hospice Staff, also Rosemary Wyman and the other caregivers who helped so much.

Laura loved her family, friends, dogs, books, and Christmas. She enjoyed her garden and all forms of nature. Laura was an independent and strong willed person, and was determined not to be a burden to others during her long illness. Laura enriched many lives through her friendship and volunteer work.

Services will be held at Zion Lutheran Church on Monday, December 3, 2007 at 11 a.m. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial to follow in the church cemetery.
