Upp, Willard Eugene

Willard Eugene Upp, 94, of Radford, Va., and formerly of Decatur, Ill., died on Thursday, September 25, 2008, at the Radford Nursing & Rehab Center in Radford. He retired after 37 years, as State Executive Director for A.S.C.S. for the United States Government. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II. He was a member of B.P.O. #401 and American Legion Post #,105 both in Decatur, Ill. He was a member of Central Christian Church in Decatur, Ill., and attended First Christian Church in Radford. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Gerald and Hazel Moore Upp; and his wife, Fay Swinford Upp. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Delores Upp, of Radford; granddaughter and spouse, Shannon and Kenneth Hunt, of Asheville, N.C.; and greatgrandson, Carl Garrison Hunt. The family will have a private service in Illinois. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to the First Christian Church, 400 Tyler Avenue, Radford, Va. 24141.
