Paulita Sutphin Updegrove, 83, formerly of Fairlawn, died on January 29, 2012 at the University of VA Medical Center. She was born July 2, 1928 in Carroll County to James Commodore and Lelia Weddle Sutphin.

Paulita worked for Kenrose Manufacturing and Russell Apparel until her retirement and had many good friends in the New River Valley and in the Charlottesville area where she had been living for the past 20 years. She was devoted to her family and will be sorely missed, but is finally at peace.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William G. Updegrove, her parents and seven siblings. She is survived by her daughter, Janice and son-in-law, Michael Di Marco of Scottsville, and their children Eden Di Marco of Richmond and Shane Di Marco also of Scottsville; three sisters and their spouses, Adrian and Juanita Carnes (twin) of Cartersville, GA, Clarence and Annabel Quesenberry of Bridgewater, and Andrew and Lelia Jackson of Harrisonburg; one sister-in-law, Kathleen S. Fisher of Midlothian; one aunt, Glenna Weddle of Fairlawn, and several nieces and nephews.

There will be a graveside service at Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin on Wednesday, February 1 at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the UVA Children’s Hospital or your local food bank.
