Woodrow Wilson Underwood, 89, of Narrows, passed away Sunday, October 5, 2008 at Country View Assisted Living in Peterstown, West Virginia. He was born in Rock, West Virginia on October 1, 1919 and was the son of the late William Moses and Eustatie Syres Underwood.

In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Hazel Meadows Underwood; four brothers, Eddie, John, Everett, and Jim Underwood; and one sister, Mary Carter. He was a retired employee of Celanese Acetate in Narrows with 28 years service, and was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Narrows.

He is survived by two sons, Ronnie Underwood and wife Lisa of Narrows, and Darrell Underwood of Christiansburg; four grandchildren, Eric Underwood, Marti Meade, David Underwood and Wesley Underwood; three great-grandchildren, Hunter Meade, Kayla Meade, and Reed Underwood; a special niece, Charlene Vaughn; two special nephews, James Underwood and Dewey Carter; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 9, 2008 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Riffe’s Funeral Service in Narrows with the Rev. Larry Clark officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, West Virginia. The family will receive friends at Riffe’s Funeral Service Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m.
