Underwood, Hazel Meadows

Hazel Meadows Underwood, 86, of Narrows, passed away Thursday, March 15, 2007 at her home.

She was born in Princeton, West Virginia on March 29, 1920 and was the daughter of the late George E. and Lilly Hill Meadows. In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul Meadows and Clyde Meadows; and three sisters, Edna Chenoweth, Veda Hickman, and Rena Orender.

She was a retired employee of the Giles County School System with 22 years of service as a custodian at Narrows High School. She was also a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Narrows.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Woodrow Wilson Underwood of Narrows; two sons, Ronnie Underwood and wife Lisa of Narrows, and Darrell Underwood of Christiansburg; four grandchildren, Eric Underwood, Marti Meade, David Underwood and Wesley Underwood; three great-grandchildren, Hunter Meade, Kayla Meade, and Reed Underwood; a sister, Nadia Honaker of Bluewell, West Virginia; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 19, 2007 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Riffe’s Funeral Service in Narrows with the Rev. Dr. Darrell Hunley and the Rev. Tim Cline officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, West Virginia. The family will receive friends at Riffe’s Funeral Service Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m.
