Turpin, Irene Ratcliffe

Irene Ratcliffe Turpin, 86, of Heathsville, Virginia, formerly of Radford, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 5, 2015. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Minnion Turpin, her parents, James Cameron and Ella Mae Ratcliffe and her sisters, Dorothy Lyons Viars and Geneva Ratcliffe Robbins.

She is survived by her daughters, Drema Turpin and Woodrow Minnick of Radford, Va., and Debra Diann Turpin of Heathsville, Va.; her son, Alvin Michael Turpin of Radford, Va.; her nephews, Dickie “Doc” Lyons and wife, Patty of Heathsville, Va. and Terry Ratcliffe and wife, Sabrina of Christiansburg, Va; five grandchildren, Steve Minnick, Kim Minnick and Scott Minnick of Radford, Va., Jessica Phillips of Dublin, Va. and James and Amanda Turpin of Stella, N. C. ; five great grandchildren, Macaylah Phillips,Clayton Phillips and Natalie Phillips of Dublin, Va., Jillynn Turpin and Caleb Turpin of Stella, N. C. ; her faithful companion, Toby and special friends, George and Naomi Guthrie.

A very special thanks to Hospice of Virginia, especially Lori Rice and Brenda Hence, and to Dr. James Bryant, Dr. June Daffeh and the nursing staff at Rappahannock General Hospital.

A graveside service will be held 2 p. m. Friday, January 9, 2015 at Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin, Va. Family will receive friends 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Mullins Funeral Home, Radford, Va.
