Hubert Atlas (H.A.) Turner Jr., 86, of 1408 Lakeview Drive, Pulaski County, Va., died on Tuesday, March 17, 2009, in the Pulaski Community Hospital. He was born in Durham, N.C., on July 13, 1922, and was the son of the late Hubert Adam Turner and Lydia Pickett Turner. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Bartie Quesenberry “Peggy” Turner.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Pulaski and he was a retired employee of Hercules, Radford with 36 years of service. Mr. Turner was a veteran of World War II having served in the United States Marine Corp. He was a member of the Pulaski Country Club, Elks Club, and American Legion Post #7. He was a Mason and a volunteer at Pulaski Community Hospital. He loved his church and family.

Surviving are his two daughters, Pam Turner, of Pulaski, and Marielynn “Kay” Caldwell, of Tennessee; one son, H.A. “Tony” Turner III and his wife, Mary Jane, of Pulaski; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Mr. Turner will be cremated.

A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2009, from the First United Methodist Church, Pulaski with the Rev. Hugh Kilgore officiating. Visiting will be held on Saturday from the church where the family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the service hour.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church, 135 4th Street, N.W., Pulaski, Va. 24301 or to the charity of one’s choice. Arrangements by Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski, Va.
