Turner, Betty Flowers

On Saturday, February 6, 2021, our Mom and Nanny, Betty F. Turner of Narrows, VA, went to be with her Lord and to join our Dad in Heaven. Mom was the daughter of the late Margaret L. Davis and the late Haskell A. Flowers. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years, Roy A. Turner, Sr., and her precious grandson, Philip Scott Shirley.

Mom was a member of Kathleen Memorial United Methodist Church and dearly loved her church family. She was also a kindergarten aide at NEMS for many years. She loved her students and they loved her in return. Mom was born in Conway, SC on March 6, 1932, one of 10 children. She lived in Folly Beach, Charleston, SC, Richmond, VA, but Giles County was truly her home.

Those left to treasure her memory are daughters, Dale T. Smith of Lugoff, SC, Mary T. Shirley (Philip) of Bradenton, FL, and Carolyn T. Smith (Mike) of Christiansburg, and her son, Roy A. Turner, Jr. (Cheryl) of Dublin. Grandchildren: Niki (Jerod), Justin (Jenelle), Brett (Dixie), Andrew (Anna), Todd, Jarid (Amanda), and Jonathon. Great-grandchildren: Blake, Brock, Brynn, Madison, Ava, Jule, Tula, Jonah, Aiden, Averi, Eleanor, Jack, Jordan, Rachel, Marcus, Easton, Justyce, Mackenzie, Irelyn, Aaliyah, and Neveah. Sisters: Sara Wilkerson and Doris Tanner (Mike). Sisters-in-law: Jeanette Flowers, Fran Flowers and Pat Whitehead and many nieces, nephews and special friends.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at 1:00pm in the Chapel of Givens – Riffe Funeral Service with funeral services immediately following at 2:00pm with the Pastor Rob Vincent officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.

The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at English Meadows, Blacksburg, and Medi Hospice for their tremendous love and care of Mom.

We love you, Mom, but we rejoice knowing you are with Dad, Scott, and all those you loved and missed so much. We will miss you, but because of our faith and love for our Lord and Savior that you and Dad instilled in us all those years, know we will see you again.
