Turman, Dorothy Shrewsbury

Dorothy Shrewsberry Turman (Dot), 89, of Prices Fork, Va., passed Sunday, December 19, 2010. Born in Summer County, W.Va., she was preceded in death by her parents, William R. and Velma Lowry Shrewsberry; a daughter, Nadene Turman Sowell; and two grandsons, David Nathan Turman and Todd Horrocks. She served as secretary of the Summers County, W.Va. Historical Society, was the Shrewsberry Family Historian and the author of many books on family history. Dot is survived by her husband of 60 years, Roscoe Nathan Turman; three sons and daughters-in-law, Dale and Barbara Turman, Charles and Diane Turman, and Joey and Judy Turman; two granddaughters, Brandy Weseloh and husband, Jimmy, and Christina Turman; six grandsons, Michael Horrocks, Benjamin Turman, Matthew Turman, Timothy, Travis and Tommy Turman; one stepgrandchild, Kenneth McNicholas; eight greatgrandchildren; two sisters, Barbara S. Flinchum and late husband, W.C. (Bud) Flinchum, Virginia S. Baker and husband, Paul. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, December 22, 2010, at 10 a.m. in the St. Michael Lutheran Church with the Rev. John Wertz officiating. Interment will follow in the Westview Cemetery, Blacksburg. Flowers will be appreciated or memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael Lutheran Church, 2308 Merrimac Road, Blacksburg, Va. 24060. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, SW, Blacksburg.
