Tselides, Steven James

Steven James Tselides died unexpectedly on January 17, 2016 in Warrenton, VA at the age of 47. Mr. Tselides was born on March 22, 1968 in Flushing, Queens, New York to his parents Demetrios and Amalia Tselides.

He completed his undergraduate degree at Buffalo State College and his graduate degree at Virginia Tech. After graduating from Virginia Tech, he worked as a technology education teacher for Montgomery County Schools. He married his wife Johnna in 1999. They moved to Warrenton where Steve taught for Loudoun County Schools.

Steve loved teaching. His passion was working with middle and high school students. To paraphrase one of his favorite quotes from Sally Ride, he felt, “I would like to be remembered as someone who was not afraid to do what [he] wanted to do, and as someone who took risks along the way in order to achieve [his] goals.” Steve wanted his students to have the courage and confidence to make the impossible possible.

Mr. Tselides is survived by his wife and children, a 12-year-old son and an 11-year-old daughter; his father, Demetrios Tselides, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; his brother, Thomas Tselides, of Greensboro, North Carolina; and many beloved family members.

Friends and family are welcome on Monday, January 25, between 2 and 4pm and 6 to 8pm at Moser Funeral Home in Warrenton. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 27, at 10 am at McCoy funeral home, 150 Country Club Drive, SW, Blacksburg, Virginia with interment to follow at Westview Cemetery.
