Trout, Cathy Jurisson

Cathy Rose Jurisson Trout, of Christiansburg, Va., ended her courageous battle with cancer on Sunday, July 13, 2014. Born in Christiansburg, Va. on March 22, 1956, she is preceded in death by her father, Dr. DB Jurisson, and by her eternal companion, David Vreeland Trout.

Cathy is survived by her son, Alan Trout and wife, Rachel of Pittsburgh, Pa.; daughter, Elizabeth Trout Biel of Christiansburg, Va.; and son, Zacharias Trout and wife, Stephanie of Riner, Va. Cathy’s world has been brightened by her four granddaughters: Cheyanne and Savannah Trout, Kendra Biel, and Aliza Trout. Also surviving Cathy are her mother, Rosalie G. Jurisson; sister Jennie Reilly and husband Mike; and sister Linda Condon and husband Daniel; mother and father-in-law Ann and Paul Trout; brother-in-law Robert Trout and wife Cris Whitaker; brother-in-law Mike Trout of Christiansburg, VA; and special aunt and uncle Shirley and Rodney Downs. Along with nieces, nephews and loving cousins, Cathy will be missed by her best friend Rebecca Richardson and faithful four-legged companion, Andy.

Cathy was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where she had many special friends. She served in many callings including Visiting Teacher Coordinator, Primary Worker, Visiting Teacher, Relief Society President and Den Mother of the Cub Scouts. She began a Brownie and Girl Scout Troop for Shawsville, and she loved all of her customers and special coworkers at Walmart Pharmacy in Christiansburg.

A celebration of Cathy’s life will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 910 Porter Street, Blacksburg, VA where visitation will be held Wednesday, July 16, from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the church Thursday, July 17, at noon.
