He is preceded in death by his parents, William Harvey and Laura Turner Trail; 13 siblings; wife, Elois Fern Shelor Trail; son, Gerald Thomas (Tommy) Trail; stepgrandson, Todd Longhi. He was a well-known business man in Floyd County. He began farming in 1937 and started his own lumber business in 1940. He is survived by his daughters and son-in-law, Carol Trail Bishop and Bruno Longhi, Connie Trail Hollandsworth; son and daughter-in-law, Barry and Bobbie Trail; sisters and brother-in-law, Neva Ratcliff, Verna and Rev. Brown Radford; grandchildren, Ann Bishop Durham and Dean, Kevin Bishop and Deann, Chad Hollandsworth, Scott Hollandsworth and Jennifer, Sharon Trail Huff and Todd, Michael Trail and Deana, Steven Trail, Jessica Trail; great-grandchildren, Destiny Bishop, Joshua Huff, Devin Durham, Lacey Bishop, Natalie Huff, Grace Bishop, Nathan Trail, Jared Houseman, Jaden Houseman; stepgranddaughters, Dawn Longhi, Whitney Longhi; stepgreat-grandsons, Tyler Longhi, Brandon Longhi. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. on Tuesday March 19, 2013, at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Roy Turpin and Pastor Stanley (Shake) Smith officiating. Interment to follow in the Greasy Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, March 18, 2013, at the funeral home.
