Toney, Virginia Grubb
Virginia Grubb Toney, 92, of Blacksburg, born January 29, 1916, to William and Myrtle Grubb, passed into the presence of her Lord Jesus Christ on March 18, 2008.
Family members preceding her include her husband, Robert Lee Toney; infant son; infant great-grandson; her parents; one sister; and four brothers.
Surviving her are three daughters, Roberta Dianne Toney, Myra Bennett and husband, Ted, and Judith Neily and husband, Warren Jr.; grandchildren, Warren Neily III and wife, Stacy, Jane Neily Wood and husband, William, Laura Neily Haskins and husband, Keith, William Bennett III and Robert Carter Bennett and wife, Jennifer, also survive her. Other survivors are five great-grandchildren, Hailey, Carter and Quinlan Bennett, William (IV) and Marshall Wood, and Morgan and Sage Neily; seven sisters, Nora Price, Lucille Grubb, Allie Underwood, Iris Crump, Glenda Gibbs and husband, Jim, Dorothy Cleary, and Eleanor Hickey; two sisters-in-law, Irene and Kathleen Grubb; and numerous nieces and nephews. irginia was a devoted wife and help-mate, a loving mother, grandmother, sister and a long time Christian who served diligently and compassionately in the church.
The family deeply appreciate the love, care, and support given to her and to the family over the years. We particularly thank the members of the Roanoke Valley Presbyterian Church, the community, and other friends, Medi-Home Hospice nurses and aides, and individual care-givers, Evelyn Boyle, Deborah Corbitt, Donna Eubank and Traci Burke.
The Rev. Dr. Charles Taylor will lead a celebration of her life service at Roanoke Valley Presbyterian Church at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 22, 2008. Interment will follow at Westview Cemetery in Blacksburg. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, anyone wanting to give in her memory make a donation to the Roanoke Valley Presbyterian Church, 2202 Catawba Road, Blacksburg, Va. 24060; Medi Home Health and Hospice, 5369 Peters Creek Road, Roanoke, Va. 24019 or the Blacksburg Rescue Squad, 200 Progress Street, N.E., Blacksburg, Va. 24060.
