Tinnel, Dorothy F.

Dorothy “Polly” F. Tinnel, 80, of Floyd, VA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 in her home, under hospice care after suffering a massive stroke. Polly was an animal lover and an active member in her church community. She was a beloved school bus driver (for twenty-four years) and Head Custodian in the Montgomery County school system.

She is survived by her three siblings, Ray Furrow, Claudine Goad, and Eve Wirt, and their spouses; her seven children, Angela “Sue” Joyner, Nancy Tinnel Emrick, Lisa Gail Tinnel, Donna Renee Tinnel, Jeffery Jackson Tinnel, Steven Mark Tinnel, and Russell Dean Tinnell, and their spouses; along with twelve grandchildren and seven (soon to be eight) great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 2, 2019 at Fellowship Baptist Church (3795 Surface Road, Riner, VA 24149), with Pastor James Bradley officiating. A luncheon will follow. Inurnment will occur at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Floyd County Humane Society or the Trustees of Fellowship Baptist Church, at her request and in honor of her great love for animals and her strong faith.
