Vivian Ethel Bravinder Timmerman, 98, businesswoman and christian educator, died Friday, March 9, 2007, in Blacksburg, Va. Born July 1, 1908 in Rutland, Iowa, the second of six children of Floyd and Ethel Phleger Bravinder, Vivian was a graduate of Iowa State Teachers College before marrying Paul Timmerman in 1937.

Vivian owned and ran the Fireside gift shop and later served as a Christian educator in several Twin City area churches, retiring from Union Church. Her joys were her family and her relationship with her church.

Vivian is survived by her daughter, Janet and son-in-law Dean Riess (Va.), two granddaughters, Deanne (Jay) Lucas (Tenn.) and Paula (Steve) Sherwood (Pa.), four great-grandchildren, Sarah and Rachel Lucas, Reese and Gabriel Sherwood, and many loving and supportive nieces, nephews and godchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters, Beth (Archie) Murdock, Eugenia (Herbert) Schmidtke, Dorothy Ludwil, and brothers, Alfred Gordon (Vera), Robert Floyd (Muriel) Bravinder.

A celebration of her life is planned for Tuesday, March 13, 2007 at the Chapel at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minn., visitation at 9:30 a.m., services at 11 a.m., burial to follow.

A memorial service will be held at Warm Hearth Village, Karr Activity Center, Blacksburg, Va. on Friday, March 16, 2007 at 4 p.m.
