Tilton, Doyle D.

Doyle D. Tilton, 82, passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2009, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, Roanoke, Va. Formerly of Speedway, Ind., he was a resident of Dublin, Va., and Ellenton, Fla. He was born March 27, 1927, in Piqua, Ohio, to Sherman and Florence (Yaney) Tilton, who preceded him in death, as well as sisters, Annabelle King and Pauline Buchenroth.

Survivors included loving wife, Athalene; sons, Jeff (Georgia) and Greg (Sue) Tilton; daughter, Tracey (Marty) Roberts; stepdaughter, Gail Albert; grandchildren, Ede, Nathaniel, Sandra, Sarah, Kaylee, and Ethan; greatgranddaughter; and nieces and nephew.

Following graduation from Ohio State, he worked in engineering, first with Janitrol, then moving to Indianapolis in 1963, to work for Bryant/Carrier as an engineering executive, retiring in 1987. An avid traveler, he had visited all 50 states, Mexico, Australia, and Europe.

A celebration of his life will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Monday, June 29, 2009, at Grace Baptist Church in Dublin, Va.
