tickle_lawrence_alfredLawrence Alfred Tickle, of Dublin, Va., went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, June 2, 2010. He will be loved and missed greatly, but knowing Jesus has his arms wrapped around him gives us strength and eases our sorrows. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and a United States Army veteran having served during World War II, giving his all so we all could live in a free country. He was retired from Harris Mechanical Plumbing and Heating. He was preceded in death by five brothers Cecil, Martin, Jess, Leonard and Frank; and six sisters, Allie, Ula Mae, Agnes, Alma, Lucille and Helen. Survivors include his wife, Edythe Marie Quesenberry Tickle ,of Dublin; three sons and daughtersin-law, Benny and Connie Tickle, Tony and Diane Tickle, and Billy Tickle, all of Dublin; three daughters and sons-inlaw, Alice K. (Bowers) Altes, of Pulaski, Rebecca Ann and Danny Hamilton, of Parrott, and Shelba J. and Walter Akers, of Draper; 13 grandchildren; 26 greatgrandchildren; two greatgreat-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. on Tuesday, June 8, 2010, at the Calvary Baptist Church in Radford with Pastor O.D. Morgan and Pastor Brian Cockram officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunrise Burial Park in Radford where members of VFW Post #776 will conduct Military Graveside Rites. The family will receive friends from 4 until 6 p.m. on Monday, June 7, 2010, at the church.
