Tickle, Hubert Shannon

Hubert Shannon Tickle, 78, of Dublin, died Monday, September 25, 2006 at his home on Highland Road. He was born in Dublin, Va., on November 2, 1927 to the late George Shannon and Bertie Mae Cassell Tickle.

Hubert was also preceded in death by his wife, Fleta Helen McCoy Tickle, and two daughters, Judy Tickle Hutchison and Jackie Jo Tickle; two granddaughters, Crystal Gail White and Penny Ann Hinkley, as well as four brothers, Lawrence, Garnett, George, and Phillip Tickle.

Hubert was a member of the Dublin Christian Church and the Montgomery County Coal Miners Heritage Association.

He is survived by his four daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce T. and Verne Taylor, Willis, Janice T. and Roger Sizemore, Juanita T. and Baxter Blevins, and Joan T. and Roy Carter, all of Dublin; eight grandchildren, Cheri Murie, Allen Park, Mich., Connie Shopshear, Snowsville, Cindy Hammond, Belspring, Foye Hall, Pulaski, Tracy Blevins, Floyd, Nicole O’Dell, Dublin, Roy Carters, Jr., Dublin, Shannon Mark Carter, Corpis Christi, Texas; 17 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the special caregivers, Barbara, Kim and Sissy, as well as Carilion New River Valley Hospice, and the members of Dublin Christian Church for their prayers and concerns.

Funeral service will be held Thursday, September 28, 2006 at 2 p.m. in the Dublin Christian Church with Mr. Eddie Callahan officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Cemetery, Highland Road, Dublin. Friends may call anytime after 12 noon Wednesday, and the family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, SW, Blacksburg.
