Thurman, Jesse Lee

thurman_jesse_leeJesse Lee Thurman, 71 of Copper Hill, Virginia, passed away Monday, October 13, 2014. A sweet and gentle man has departed this earth to his final destination, Heaven. Jesse is the son of the late Myrtle Thurman of Boones Mill, Virginia.

He is predeceased by two brothers, Billy Thurman and Earl Thurman; two sisters, Jean Carter and Ann Wright.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Barbara Thomas Thurman; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Gary Roberson of Roanoke and very special granddaughter Jessica English Thurman. Jesse also leaves behind two sisters, Joneda Roberson, Marie Mullins and husband, Irvin; three brothers, Henry
“Buddy” Thurman and wife Sherry, Milford Thurman and wife Betty, and Howard Thurman. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews, two very special friends, Patsy Snavely and John (Scooter) Snavely, and his former wife, Mary E. English.
During his careers at both Richardson-Wayland Electrical Corporation and Joe Bandy & Son, Jesse was very blessed to have made lifelong friends.

Jesse had a special place in his heart for animals and leaves behind his faithful companion, Willow. Very dear to him were his family, friends, children, and loved helping others. He will be sadly missed by all, but we will meet again!

Special thanks to Good Samaritan Hospice for your kindness and support. A memorial service will be held at Copper Hill Church of the Brethren in Floyd County 11:00 A.M. Saturday, October 18, 2014, with Pastor Marty Moyer officiating. The family will receive friends Friday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Copper Hill Church of the Brethren Food Bank, Roanoke Valley SPCA, Floyd County Humane Society, Good Samaritan Hospice, or charity of your choice.
