Thornton II, Donald Andrew

Donald Andrew (Andy) Thornton II, 32, of Pulaski, Va., died on Monday, November 5, 2007 at his home. Born March 31, 1975 in Roanoke, Va., he was the son of Donald Andrew Thornton and Rio DeLane McPeak Ferris. His paternal grandparents, James I. and Iva C. Thornton; maternal grandparents, Kern J. McPeak and Romaine Dell; and special stepbrother, Doug Lyons preceded him in death.

He was a graduate of Pulaski County High School 1993 and was the owner-manager of Andy Thornton’s Auto Repair, Pulaski.

He leaves behind his pride and joy and the most wonderful son a man could want for, Devon Andrew Thornton; and Devon’s mother, Yana; father and stepmother, Donald Andrew and Lora M. Thornton of Pulaski; mother and stepfather, Rio McPeak and Bentley Ferris of Floyd, Va.; sisters, Tammy Annette Thornton of Snowville, Va. and April Thornton Montgomery and husband, Mark, of Radford, Va.; stepsisters, Amanda Dulaney and Chad of Christiansburg, Va., Kerry Montgomery of Pulaski and LaDonna Dalton and David of Dublin; two special nephews, Justin and Rusty Shayne Gravley; nieces, Whitney Rio Tolley, Holly Delayne Akers and Megan Elaine Montgomery; aunts, uncles, cousins, step nieces and nephews; special friend, Jeff Stump; special friends and honorary pallbearers, Jerry Hardy, LaMonte Austin , Perry Reece , Tommy Cecil , Steven Thorpe, James Bruce, Michael J. Smith and Steven Dillon.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 8, 2007 at the Bower Funeral Chapel, Pulaski with the Rev. Darlene Marshall and Pastor Dave Holladay officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, November 7, 2007 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bower Funeral Chapel, 1631 Bobwhite, Blvd., Pulaski, Va.
