Thornton, Ella Jeanette Clemons

Ella Jeanette Clemons Thornton, 71 of Narrows, went to be with her Lord, Saturday October 16, 2010, at her home. Born October 13, 1939 at Glen Lyn, VA, she was the seventh child of the late Ned and Ella Jane Perdue Clemons.

Jeanette was a loving Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother who will be missed by all. She was a devoted homemaker and loved to sew and do crafts. She was employed at Celanese Corp., until the birth of her son at which time she decided to stay home to care for him. She attended school at Glen Lyn, Oakvale, and graduated from Peterstown High School.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers; Curtis, Marvin, an Oswald Clemons; three sisters, Thelma May Suddith, Vada Virginia Cline, and Charlotte Lee Scott.

Survivors include her loving husband of 51 years, Earl C. Thornton; one son, Earl Steven Thornton and wife Missy of Bluefield, WV; two grandsons, Jacob Cory Thornton, and Christopher Steven Thornton and wife Amy; one great grandson, Hunter Jackson Thornton; two brothers, Claude Clemons and wife Frances of Baltimore, MD; Jackie Clemons and wife Darlene of Rich Creek, VA; one sister, Darlene Gautier and husband Bobby of Rich Creek, VA; two sister-in-laws, Clarabell Thornton Waddell and husband Lewis, and Margaret Thornton Francis and husband Don; one brother-in-law, Bill Scott, and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services and burial will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at the Peterstown Cemetery, with Minister Tony Reed officiating. Friends may call from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM Tuesday October 19, 2010 at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home in Peterstown.
