Thornsberry, Edna Mae Payne

Edna Mae Payne Thornsberry, 88, of Bland, VA, went to be with her beloved Lord on Thursday, April 19, 2018. She was born February 15, 1930 at Lex, WV, the daughter of the late Lawrence & Hazel Robertson Payne.

She was a wonderful homemaker and enjoyed cooking, quilting and crocheting. She was saved at 13 years old and loved the Lord. She was tremendous prayer warrior and would tell everyone “you just can’t say it, you’ve got to live it.” She was a member of The Church of the Lord Jesus in Clendenin Hollow. She played guitar and piano music in church and taught many people to play. She was a light to us all and will be missed greatly.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Homer “Hibbert” Thornsberry, a daughter, Hazel Claudine Jones, a small infant, a granddaughter, Yocoeona Harless, a brother, Arland Payne and two sisters, Eloise Puckett and Betty Porter Payne.

Left to cherish the memory of a life well lived are her sons & daughters-in-law, Clenard & Sonja Thornsberry, Homer D. Thornsberry and Vicki White and Sean Thornsberry; her daughters & son-in-law, Vivian Ann Thornsberry and Alisha & Jason McClure; her brothers, Junior Payne and Rev.Hufford Payne; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, too many to list.

Funeral services will be held Monday, April 23, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home Chapel, White Gate, with Rev. Raymond Elledge officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 9:00 A.M. until service time, 11:00 A.M.
