William Kaufman Thompson, 92, of Floyd, Va., passed away June 22, 2006.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Clyde M. Thompson. He is survived by three daughters, Marie and LeRoy Carr of Floyd, Dorothy Lee Carter of Roanoke and Hilda Thompson, of Floyd; two sons, J.C. and Arlene Thompson of Floyd and Billy and Wanda Thompson of Floyd; 11 grandchildren, Michael and Rosemary Carr, Sherry and Ronald Hartsock, Darrell Carr and Cassie, Dennis and Cheryl Carter, Donald and Angie Carter, Janice and Paul Hoffman, Melody Martin, Stephen and Winnie Thompson, Stephanie and Rob Ryan, Bryant and Stacy Thompson and Kim and Tommy Mays; 20 greatgrandchildren; three sisters, Elma Turman of Floyd, Ailene and Jamie StClair of Roanoke, Lois and Parris Hammond of Roanoke; three sisters-in-law, Lillian Thompson, Polly Thompson and Julie Thompson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral service, 2 p.m. Saturday, June 24, 2006 at The House of Prayer with the Rev. John Ingram, the Rev. Guy Hartsock, the Rev. Vinton Quesenberry and the Rev. Eli Yoder officiating with interment in the Radford Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home in Floyd.
