Thompson, Virginia Ethel Keith

Virginia Ethel Keith Thompson of Blacksburg, passed away November 4, 2012. She was born in Willis, to the late Henry Eden and Mary Catherine Keith on September 16, 1917. She is preceded in death by her husband Dr. Evans G. Thompson, brother, Harry Keith, sister, Pauline Gill, and son-in-law, Dr. Charles C. Harris. She is survived by daughter, Evelyn Harris; son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Betty Lynn Thompson; grandchildren, Robert Harris, Mary Catherine Lawson and husband, Jody, and Linda Dolan and husband, Chris; great-grandchildren, Seth Carswell, Kirstin Taylor, Brandon Taylor, Josh Lawson and Emily Lawson. Virginia was a graduate of Radford College and taught fifth grade at Gilbert Linkous Elementary School. She was a member of the D.A.R. and Virginia Tech Faculty Wives. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 7, 2012, in the Blacksburg United Methodist Church with the Rev. Reggie Tuck officiating. Interment will follow in the Westview Cemetery, Blacksburg. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the staff at Wheatland Hills and to Jane Smith for the care they provided Virginia. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society 2840 Electric Road, Suite 106A, Roanoke, VA 24018. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Dr. SW. Blacksburg.
