Thompson, Sonia Elvina May

Sonia Elvina May Thompson, 97, of Blacksburg, passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford E. Thompson; and brother, Vernon Hastings. Sonia is survived by her daughter, Sandra J. Moore and son-in-law, John F. Moore of Blacksburg; brother-in-law, Charles Thompson of El Paso, Texas; sister-in-law, Doris Richardson, formerly of Willoughby, Ohio; nieces and nephews, Derrick Hastings of Northwich, England, Linda Richardson-Brewer of Sloatsburg, N.Y, Tom Richardson of Herndon, Va., Joanne Eason of Dallas, Texas, and Jeff Thompson of Dallas, Texas; as well as numerous great-nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Good Samaritan Hospice and the Arbor Memory Care staff at Kroontje Health Care Center for the excellent care they provided to Sonia. The family will receive friends on Friday, February 28, 2014 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home, Christiansburg. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2014, at 3 p.m. in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Wanda Price officiating. There will be a one hour visitation prior to the funeral service on Saturday.
