Thompson, Ronol Gene

Ronol Gene Thompson, 80 of Elliston, passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2013. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ora W. and Nena Scaggs Thompson; a daughter, Carolyn Thompson; and a sister, Emilene Duncan.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Helen Yates Thompson; children, Don and Susan Lambert of Marion, VA, and Gary Lambert of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Rusty and Veronica Lambert; step-granddaughter, McKenzie Gates and husband Justin; great-grandchildren, Hunter Lambert, Kevan Lambert, Alexander Gates, and Kingston Gates; 1 brother, Bobby; 6 sisters, Judy, Mary Francis, Glada, Phyllis, Nancy, and Doris; special friends, Donna and John Conner; cat, Dolly; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Ronol was a railroad signal maintenance operator with both N & S and N & W, having worked there for 38 years. He was a life member of the Radford VFW and enjoyed working his farm.

The memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2014, at 7 p.m. in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel, with military honors being provided by the Radford VFW.
