Thompson, Robert W.

Robert W. Thompson, 85, of Rich Creek, passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2007 at Riverview Nursing Home in Rich Creek. Born April 9, 1921 at McAlpine, W.Va., he was the son of the late James E. and Ollie Swim Thompson. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Raymond Thompson and one sister, Mary Elizabeth Johnson.

Mr. Thompson was a charter member of the Glen Lyn Church of Christ, a member of John Dove Lodge #78 A.F. & A.M., Peterstown, W.Va., he was an active member of the Rich Creek Volunteer Fire Department, and was a retired employee of the Celanese Corp. having worked there for over 42 years.

Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Ruth Lester Thompson; one daughter Robin Conners of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; and one grandson, Brian Connors. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, March 25, 2007 at the BroylesShrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel in Peterstown, with Ministers Tony Reed and Eddie Jones officiating. Burial will follow at the Sunrise Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Rich Creek, Va.
