Myrtle H. Thompson, 96, of Radford, Va., passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2013. She was a member of Grove United Methodist Church and a resident of Wheatland Hills in Radford. She was preceded in death by her husband, B.C. (Benny) Thompson; a sister, Emma Henderlite; grandsons, Phillip Church and Keith Church; and son-in-law, Gary Foster.

Mrs. Thompson is survived by loving daughters, Stella Foster, of Christiansburg, and Patricia Saunders, of Radford. Also surviving is a sister, Elizabeth Wahl, of Aliquippa, Pa. Mrs. Thompson is also survived by grandchildren, Kevin Saunders, of Gretna, Scott (Katie) Saunders, of St. Louis, Mich., Stacey (Michael) Branigan, of Delhi, N.Y., and Matthew (Suzanne) Saunders, of Radford. The following great-grandchildren also survive, Gunnar Saunders, of Lynchburg, Ben, Will, Luke, and Tyler Branigan, of Delhi, N.Y., and Owen and Addie Saunders, of Radford.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 25, 2013, from 10 a.m. to noon at DeVilbiss Funeral Home in Radford. Pastor Don Shelor will conduct the graveside service at Westview Cemetery directly following the visitation. A celebration of Myrtle’s great life will continue throughout the day on Saturday, May 25, 2013.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Radford Fire Department, 1500 Wadsworth Street, Radford, VA 24141 and the Radford Lions Club, 501 East Main St., Radford, VA.

The family would like to thank the Wheatland Hills staff, especially, Amy, Martha, and Becky, for their kindness and support. Also, thanks to Myrtle’s friends for their love and support.
