Thompson, Mickey Landrum
Mickey Landrum Thompson, 82, of Radford, went to be with her Lord and Savior at her home while surrounded by loved ones on October 12, 2013. She was born on June 8, 1931 in Radford to the late Waddie and Mary Landrum. Her sweetheart of 57 years, Robert Lee Thompson Jr. and her brothers, John (Jay) Landrum of Radford and Waddie Landrum of Chicago, Illinois preceded her in death.
Mickey is survived by her son, Clifton Lee Thompson and wife, Tamara, of Richmond, Va.; daughter, Mary Lynn Thompson of Radford, Va.; granddaughter, Brittany Thompson of Richmond, Va.; grandson, Zachary Crosier of Radford, Va.; brother, Don Landrum and wife Becky, of Lawton, Okla.; sister, Judi Eanes and husband John, of Christiansburg, Va.; and many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She attended Radford City Schools where she enjoyed playing basketball and other sports. Mickey was employed for 43 years with the Radford City School System. She was a lifelong member of the Wesleyan Church and attended Christiansburg Wesleyan Church. The family would like to thank the medical staff at New River Valley Medical Center and Carilion Hospice. The family will receive friends on Monday, October 14, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. at DeVilbiss Funeral Home.
Family and friends will celebrate Mickey’s life on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at 3 p.m. at Christiansburg Wesleyan Church with Dr. David Hurd officiating. Interment will follow at Westview Cemetery in Radford, Va.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made in Mickey’s honor to the Christiansburg Wesleyan Church Building Fund, 525 Harkradar Street, Christiansburg, VA 24073, or the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
