Mary Jane Thompson, age 73, of Blacksburg died, Friday, January 28, 2022. She was born in Lexington, Va. on December 5, 1948 to the late Homer and Thelma Thompson. She is also preceded in death by her brother, Wayne Thompson, sister, Carol Thompson.

She graduated from Natural Bridge High School and attended Virginia Commonwealth University. She moved to Blacksburg in 1978. She was employed at Virginia Tech in Food Science and was a recipient of one of the 1996 President’s Award for Excellence, as well as recipient of Alpha Gamma Chapter-Epsilon Sigma Phi award for outstanding secretary and served on FST Department Head Search Committee. She was a member of Centennial Christian Church. She worked for Larry Linkous Auctioneers for twenty plus years.

She is survived by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Tommy Thompson (Loretta), Jimmy Thompson (Shelia), Bobby Thompson (Susan), nieces, Debbie Thompson Broughman and family, Jennifer Thompson Austin and family, Dawn Faulkner McNamara (Brian), Krissy Thompson, nephews, William Thompson and family, Lee Faulkner and family, Brent Faulkner and family, Tom Thompson and family, Logan Thompson, Afton Thompson.

The family would like to express special “Thanks” to neighbors, friends and church family, and to Medi Home Health and Hospice.

Funeral Services will be conducted Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at 11:00 am in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Steve Allen officiating. Interment will follow in the Centennial Christian Church Cemetery, McCoy.

In lieu of flowers please donate to Centennial Christian Church or to Cancer Research Organization. The family will receive friends from 10-11:00 am prior to the service at McCoy Funeral Home 150 Country Club Dr. SW, Blacksburg.
