Thompson, Jr. Fred C. (Jack),

Fred Cunningham Thompson, Jr. (Jack), 95, of Pearisburg, departed this life Sunday afternoon, November 16, 2014, at Friendship Health and Rehab. In Roanoke. Born in Staffordsville on February 21, 1919 he was a son of the late Fred C. Sr. and Mollie Jane Woodyard Thompson.

He was retired from the American Can Company as a lithographer. He was preceded in death by his brothers John E and Joe Thompson and his sisters Nancy Harrell and Lucy Martin.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Dorothy B. Thompson of Salem; his daughter and son-in-law Connie and Erie Smith of Pearisburg; his sister Lois T. “Pat” Whittaker of Princeton, WV; his three granddaughters, his six great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at 2:00 pm in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke with burial following in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the services. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that contributions be made to the Salem Rescue Squad.
