Gladys Malene Compton Thompson, 93, of Pulaski, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, October 2, 2011, from Lewis Gale Hospital-Pulaski. She was born on May 7, 1918, in Russell County to the late Celia Steele Compton and John Allen Compton. She was a 67 plus year member of the Bob White Blvd. Church of God (The Refreshing Center).

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Claibourne Thompson; a daughter, Zona Gail Lucado; brothers, Elden, Aulden, Lake, Gaines, Gilmer, Gudger, Jess, Beech, Howard, Carl, and Clyde; sisters, Ethel, Pearl, and Ercil; and a grandchild named Loretta. She is survived by a daughter, Kaye Thompson Jones and her husband, Rex, of Dublin; sons, Garry Wayne Thompson and his wife, Norma, of Marion, and Ronald C. Thompson and his wife, Connie, of Snowville; and a grandson that she raised as a son, Michael Lee Thompson and his wife, Patricia, of Pulaski. She is also survived by grandchildren, Renee East, Karen Bond, Derek Thompson, Michael Lee Thompson Jr., J.W. Thompson, Kasey Quesenberry, Buddy Luckado, and Mike Luckado; great-grandchildren, Dustin East, Celia East, Curtis Johnson, and April Alley; eight great- great- grandchildren; and special nieces and nephews, Stafford Compton, Bobby Joe Compton, Mildred King, Bill Compton, and Nadyne White.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 5, 2011, at Seagle Funeral Home with the Rev. John C. Briggs, and the Rev. Carl White ministering. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Visiting will be Tuesday evening, October 4, 2011, from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The family will be gathering at Mrs. Thompson’s apartment at 988 Memorial Drive, Apt. #28 in Pulaski.
