Thompson, Emmett Garland

Emmett Garland Thompson, 91, of Christiansburg passed away November 22. He was a World War II Army Veteran, member of Calvary Baptist Church of Radford.

Emmett retired from the Radford Army Ammunition Plant after 36 years of service. He was the youngest of 10 children and the lst of that generation.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Helen Leighton Thompson; daughter Bonnie Thompson Blackburn; son, Barry G. Thompson; grandchildren; Tammy Blackburn and Robert Schell, Tracey Zeibell and Matthew, Tanya Blackburn and Andrew Sheppard, Mandy Agnew and Barry, Jason Thompson and Joshua Thompson; and special friend of Bonnie, Larry Akers.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, November 27 at Horne Funeral Home. Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel at 11 a.m. on Monday November 28. Interment will follow in Belmont Cemetery.
