Richard “Dickie” Elbert Thomas (82) of Pulaski, VA passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, September 3, 2021. He was born June 9, 1939, to the late Cecil Elbert Thomas and Deanie W. Thomas Turner.

He was also preceded in death by his infant son, Robin Christopher Thomas and siblings Jennie Lou Hill, Cecile “Sis” Hill Gravely, Cloyd “Bud” Hill Jr and Margaret “Dottie” Thomas Hill.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Barbara Turner Thomas, and children Kathy Macon (Joe) of Barren Springs, VA., Gayle White (Jeff) of Seaford, VA., and Curtis Thomas (Kim) of Pulaski, VA., 6 Grandchildren, 8 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great-Great Grandchildren. Also, his sisters, Barbara Thomas Hutchinson of Dublin, VA, Mary Jo Thomas Gravely of Richmond, VA., and Terri Thomas St. Clair of Matthews NC.

He retired from the Pulaski County Board of Supervisors, after 20 years’ service. Dickie held several positions as an active member of Trinity Baptist Church, Pulaski VA. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his friends and spending time with his family. He was held in high regard by many and was often described as “one of the good ones”.

Visitation will be held, Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at Trinity Baptist Church – 4008 Robinson Tract Road, Pulaski VA from 1:00 pm until time of service at 2:00 pm. Graveside for the immediate family will follow at Ray’s Cemetery on Brookmont Road, Pulaski VA. The family respectfully asks for masks to be worn and social distancing where possible.
