Thomas, Michael Layne

Michael Layne Thomas, 39 of Floyd, passed away Wednesday, October 31, 2018.

He is survived by his parents, Wilma Sue and Jerry L. Thomas; sisters, Christina Banks (Curtis Banks), Kathy Allison (Randall), Kim Grim (Aaron); grandmother, Mildred Ferguson; nieces, Ally Young, Brandy Grim, Peyton Grim, Kendra Sharp; nephews, Kaine Grim, Dustin McGuire; great niece, Adelyn Young; numerous aunts and uncles; special cousin, A.J. Thomas; special friend, Nathaniel Sommers.

A Funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm, Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Maberry Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Dalton officiating. Interment will follow at Maple Shade Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm, Friday, November 2, 2018 at Maberry Funeral Home.

God saw he was getting tired
And a cure was not to be.
So He put His arms around him
And whispered, “Come with Me.”

With tearful eyes we watched him suffer
And saw him fade away.
Although we loved him dearly,
We could not make him stay.

A golden heart stopped beating,
Hard working hands to rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the best.
