Marvin Jewell Thomas, 96, of Floyd, passed away Sunday morning, May 28, 2006 at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center.

Born March 18, 1910 to the late Nathaniel C. and Judia Martin Thomas, he was the youngest of 11 children, all of whom preceded him in death.

Marvin is survived by his wife of nearly 69 years, Daisy DeWitt Thomas. In addition to his wife he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, J. DeWitt and Linda Thomas of Check; a daughter, Judy T. Hubbard of Copper Hill; four grandchildren, Frank and Crissie Thomas of Copper Hill; Patrick Thomas of Copper Hill; Laura and Jason Conner of Check; Cory Hubbard of Fairlawn and his girlfriend, Ashley Day of Shawsville; a great-granddaughter, Jaci Beth Thomas of Copper Hill and a son-in-law, Doug Hubbard of Fairlawn. Also surviving is a special caregiver, Betty Conner of Bent Mountain and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at the Stonewall Cemetery Tuesday, May 31, 2006 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Dan Walker officiating. The family will receive friends Monday evening 5 to 8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home in Floyd. in lieu of flowers the family requests donations and memorials be made to the Floyd County Rescue Squad, the Floyd County Fire Department or a charity or organization of your choice.

The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Garry Kuiken and staff, Carilion NRV Medical Center personnel, Carilion Hospices; Floyd County Rescue Squad and Skyline Manor Nursing Home for all the care and comfort given their loved one. Arrangements by Wood Funeral Home in Floyd.
