Thomas, Gladys Mae

Gladys Mae Thomas, 87, of Christiansburg, Va., died on Monday, April 19, 2010, at her home. She was born in Shawsville, Va., on September 27, 1922, to the late Edward and Effie Williams Martin and was also preceded in death by her husband, William Calhoun Thomas. She is survived by a daughter, Betty T. Johnson, of West Virginia; a son and daughter-in-law, William and Brenda Thomas, of Christiansburg; a sister, Edith Marie Akers, of Roanoke; a special thanks to her caregiver grandson, Terry and wife, Michelle Thomas; grandchildren, William C. Thomas and Billy Vaughn; five great-grandchildren; a special friend, Katha Bond; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 22, 2010, in the Cambria Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Jerry Shepherd officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family for medical and other expenses. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday evening, April 21, 2010, at the Cambria Pentecostal Holiness Church. Arrangements by McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg, Va.
