Thomas, Connie Vass

Connie Sue Vass Thomas, age 68, passed away on Thursday, November 9, 2023, at her home surrounded by her family. Born October 16, 1955, in Pearisburg, VA, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth L. and Carol Ann Mann Vass.

Connie retired from the Monroe County Health Department in 2013 after working for 38 years as a secretary. Following her retirement, she began working as secretary for the family business, K.L. Vass Construction. She enjoyed crocheting, crafts, and her flowers. Above all, she loved her family, especially her grandbabies. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Michael Vass and wife Claudette Vass. Those left to cherish Connie’s memory include her loving husband of 48 years, Will Thomas of Lindside, WV; one son, Philip Thomas and wife Ashley of Lindside, WV; one daughter, Mary Anne O’Neil and husband Patrick of Lindside, WV; one brother, Nathan Vass of Columbus, OH; her grandbabies, Kylie, Emma, Lexi, Jase, Landon, Lilly, Layla, Kyleigh, Paisley, Brock, and Bella; special nephew, Tyler Vass and wife Jessica, and their son Hunter, of OH; and many special extended family members and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM on Sunday, November 12, 2023, at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel in Peterstown, WV, with Pastor Dewey Broyles officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Hedding Cemetery in Lillydale, WV. Visitation will be held from 1:00PM until time of services on Sunday at the funeral home.

Dossie Williams, Bentley Ratcliffe, Dylan Kanode, McCreery Mann, Landon Clarkson, Gary Thomas, Tyler Vass, Allen Crawford, and Patrick O’Neil will serve as pallbearers. George Munsey and Frank Wills will serve as honorary pallbearers.
