Ronald Dee Taylor (Ronnie) passed away peacefully at his home on March 20, 2021. He was a resident of the Goodwins Ferry area of Newport, VA since 1973. It was an area he loved and called it “God’s Country”. Originally from the Cambria area of Christiansburg, VA, he was born on May 19, 1954.

He was preceded by his parents, Robert and Hazel Hixon Taylor, and his twin brother, Donnie.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Marcia Rogers Taylor and sons, David, Eric (Shannon), Jonathan, daughter Melanie, all of Goodwins Ferry. Also, Benito Hernandez, of Blacksburg, VA who was like a son and brother to our family; his two granddaughters, Autumn, and Summer, who he loved and they always bought a Ray of Sunshine and happiness to his heart. Also surviving is his brother Robert (Barbara) of Christiansburg, VA; his sister-in-laws, Pam Taylor of Riner, and Remona Vaught of Blacksburg; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Ronnie was a graduate of Christiansburg High School Class of 1972. He retired from VDOT in 2013 after a career of 39 years. He was a hunter, fisherman, and avid storyteller. He never met a stranger. He was a wonderful Dad, always there for his children and loved helping them while they were growing up in their baseball, basketball, and track endeavors. He was always there to give advice, listen and help his family through any problems that would arise. He loved them unconditionally; his wisdom and guidance will leave a deep void that will never be filled.

The family and friends will celebrate his life in a memorial service on Friday, March 26, 2021 at 2:00 PM at New Hope Church of God (1404 Mudpike Road Christiansburg, VA) with Reverend Michael Bonds officiating.
