Taylor, Opal Sykes

Opal Sykes Taylor, 83 of Auburndale, Fla., formerly of Pearisburg, Va., passed away Wednesday, December 13, 2006 at Life Care Center in Winter Haven, Fla.

Mrs. Taylor was born in Honaker, Russell County, Va. on May 14, 1923 and was a daughter of the late Henry L. and Minnie Clark Sykes. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willie J. Taylor; and her son, Freddie Taylor. Mrs. Taylor retired from the Celanese Corporation in Narrows with 42 years service.

She is survived by on son, Lewis H. Taylor of Auburndale, Fla.; one daughter, Debra Stephens of Lakeland, Fla.;, two sisters, Lucy Moye of Pearisburg, Jean Altic of Roanoke.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, December 17, 2006 at 2 p.m. at the Givens Funeral Chapel in Pearisburg with Dr. Fred L. Austin officiating with burial following in the Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg.
