Tawney, Linda B.

Linda B. Tawney, 64, of Woodland Ave. in Narrows, departed this life Wednesday evening April 25, 2007 in the loving care of her family at her home.

Born in Newport News, Va. on September 21, 1942, she was a daughter of Nadine Troutman Barkley of Newport News, Va. and the late Kenneth Barkley. She had been employed in the clothing manufacturing industry as a computer payroll specialist and Vice President. The biggest thing in her life was always her family.

She leaves to cherish her memory her mother; her devoted husband, Darrell G. Tawney; sons, Ronnie Steinke of Ft. Myers, Fla., Vincent S. Ward, Jr. of Newport News, Va., David Michael Steinke; a special daughter, Cherie Hutchinson of Newport News, Va.; a sister Carol Barkley Vascott of Newport News, Va.; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a special group of loved parents, Dana and Ruth Casper, Buford Tawney, Connie Akers and children, and a special little angel, Tracey Johnson; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, April 28, 2007 at 2 p.m. in the Kendall Funeral Home at 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke with burial following in the Lucas-Williams Cemetery in Pembroke. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 6 to 8 PM. The family extends a special thanks to Carilion Hospice Services and Pastor Eddie Kendall for their care during Linda’s illness and would like in lieu of flowers for contributions be made to Carilion Hospice Services.
