Tankersley, Roger Dale

Roger Dale Tankersley, 45, of Floyd, passed away Saturday, January 31, 2009. He loved spending time with his family and horses. Roger loved to hunt, laugh, joke around and have a good time. He was a member of Laurel Branch Church of the Brethren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Tankersley Jr.; father in law and mother in law, Arnold and Faye Slusher; sister-in-law, Betty Slusher; brother-in-law, Danny Ray Cook. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Gail S. Tankersley; son, Zachary James Tankersley; mother, Shirley Ann Tankersley; brother and sister-in-law, Charlie and Katie Tankersley; two sisters and brother-in-law, Lisa Tankersley, Julie and Timmy Shearing; brothers-in-law and spouse, Terry Slusher, Mike and Kay Slusher; sister-in-law, Katherine Coates; nieces and nephews, Stormy Gayle Tankersley, Chad Tankersley, Chris Kelley, Timmy Kelley, Jenna Shearing, Jeremiah Slusher and spouse Marzena, Jesse Slusher and spouse Jessica; two great nieces, Victoria Slusher, Madison Grace Slusher; faithful canine companion, Shylo.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 3, 2009, at Gardner Funeral Home with the Rev. Angela Carr and the Rev. Mike Battle officiating. Interment will follow at Laurel Branch Cemetery. Friends may call after 4 p.m. on Monday at Gardner Funeral Home, where the family will be from 6 to 8 p.m.
