Talbert, Rebecca Lee
Rebecca Lee Talbert, 41, of Roanoke, Va., and formerly of Blacksburg and Newport, departed this life on Thursday morning, April 2, 2009, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke. She was born in Radford on July 17, 1967.
“Becky” was an inspiration to all who know her, and everyone admired her “spunk” and determination. In spite of being in a wheelchair all of her life, and enduring many long and painful illnesses and hospitalizations, Becky kept her spirits up, and had the courage and strength to try anything to live a full and joyous life. Her total faith in Jesus Christ carried her through all of her physical limitations and finally to a new and glorious life in heaven, leaving all sickness and disabilities behind.
She was a graduate of Blacksburg High School where she was a member of the FBLA and the FHA and enjoyed the hymn singing of her Pentecostal Faith.
Becky leaves to cherish her memory, her mother and stepfather, Hilda Linkous Montgomery and Nolan Montgomery, of Newport; her father and stepmother, Larry Snow and Debbie Altis Vaught, of Pilot; her brothers and sisters, Willard Larry Vaught, of Pilot, Paul Linwood Vaught, of Pilot, Todd Montgomery, of Newport, Rhonda Custer, of Ripplemead, and Lynn Montgomery, of Christiansburg; “Granny” Hazel Altis; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins; and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 5, 2009, in the Kendall Funeral Home at 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke with Pastor Eddie Kendall officiating. Burial will follow in the Newport Cemetery at Newport, Va. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday evening, April 4, 2009, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Her family would like to express their gratitude to the nursing and medical staff at Roanoke Memorial Hospital for their excellent care and to the staff at Avante Nursing and Rehab in Roanoke for making Becky’s life so much better in the last months.
